5 Things that Have Helped Me Become Who I am Today (collab post)

Hello! This is Pranjali from Dainty Palms. I am honored to take over Niraj’s blog today, he’s such a patient and sweet soul. We did a collaboration post on similar topics. You can check out his post on my blog here.

Today, I would like to share some brief yet crucial elements of my life that, as the title says, have helped me to become who I am today. I believe that certain things in life tie us all together. Little things have more effect on us than we realize. Maybe you’ll find something in this post that resonates with you. Do let me know!

  • Meditation

This had to be the first because, without meditation, I would have been lost. I came to experience meditation the first time when I was around 14 years old- it helped me through thick and thin and everything in between. It taught me patience and love. And above all, it taught me to ‘let go.’

I have always been in love with nature. I love to wake up in the morning because that’s the finest hour of the day. Meditation taught me to embrace life in all its beauty and chaos. I am thankful for it every day.

  • Dance

Fun fact: I am a Kathak dancer. I pursued this art for almost a decade before I went off to college. Kathak has been a huge part of my life since- well, forever. It has always healed me when I needed it the most.  It doesn’t matter if I am stressed, happy, sad, or even crying, it always helps me to connect with myself. Dance is my escape. Without it, I would have lost the spring in my step- literally. To be honest, hobbies and arts like these keep you sane in this crazy world. Never let your passions die.

  • Perseverance

I realized the paramount value of consistency in my 12th standard. I scored pretty well, and I was able to do that merely because I studied consistently throughout the year. I had a bad accident wherein I injured a ligament in my right hand. It was truly a disaster. But persevering through it all year, made me believe in myself, and certainly made me stronger. Working hard consistently is more influential than working hard.

I also became conscious of the fact that it was consistency and perseverance that helped me to pursue Kathak for a decade. So, whatever you’re doing in life, don’t give up on it- work through it with confidence and perseverance.

  • Family

It is popularly said that choose the people around you wisely. I got pretty lucky in this facet. My parents and siblings have been a constant support in my life. They gave me what I needed when I needed it. I couldn’t have reached here without their help, motivation, and love.  Along with merely a couple of good friends, they made my life a lot more easy and beautiful. I have nothing else to say here.

  • Going through Anxiety

I know it sounds crazy but hear me out. I am not saying that I am glad it was a part of my life or that I went through it, but in some way, it made me know myself a little better. I started to take care of myself – mentally and physically – something that I couldn’t care less about before. I learned how to cure and heal, how to spend time alone and most of all, how to deal with anxiety. Because let’s face it, all of us have had it at one phase or another in our lives. And you know what they say, what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

That concludes my list of things that I am grateful for every day and that have helped me tremendously all through my life. I hope this post was worth your time- thank you for reading!

Don’t forget to check out Niraj’s post on my blog, the link of which can be found here.

Before I end this, I want to remind you that you are enough, and everything happens for a reason.

Keep the loving vibes flowing,

Pranjali

    1. Yeah, it’s hard to go through, but it’s all about perspective. Instead of thinking of it as something you had to go through, think of it as something you had to grow through.
      Thank you for reading!
